An engineering company built around how product teams actually work.
Founded in Addis Ababa in 2021. Today we give product companies, mostly in Europe, the senior engineering capacity they can't hire fast enough. Under an EU contract, in their time zone, with engineers who stay.

How Mereb got here
Mereb Technologies was founded in 2021 in Addis Ababa by Nebyu Zekariyas and Yared Taddese. The premise was straightforward: there is a generation of senior engineers in Addis Ababa who have built global software for over a decade, who speak English fluently, who work in European time zones, and who are not being bid up by Big Tech. Put them on a team and give them real product work, and they will outperform what most companies can hire locally.
The early years were about proving that thesis. We took on demanding projects for US clients, including financial platforms, healthcare products, and real-time systems, and learned how to deliver them under serious technical scrutiny. By 2023 we had shipped fifty products and built a senior team that had been through the full cycle of building, scaling, and supporting real software.
What we noticed along the way: product companies got more out of working with us than enterprises did. Not because product work is harder, but because product teams need engineers who learn the business and stay long enough to ship features that compound. That's the engineering relationship we are built for. By 2024 we made it explicit. We focus on product companies.
In 2026 we narrowed further. European product companies, especially in Germany and Poland, were telling us the same story: senior engineering roles take six months to fill, and the cost of waiting is measured in roadmap. We opened Mereb Technologies Sp. z o.o. in Warsaw to contract with these companies on European terms, and we built our delivery model around the way European product teams actually work.
We are still based in Addis Ababa. That hasn't changed. What's changed is who we serve, and how directly we serve them.

Client RetentionThree phases. One direction.
Our history is a record of getting more focused, not more diluted. Each phase narrowed who we serve.
Phase 1: Foundation
Mereb Technologies was founded in Addis Ababa with one bet: that senior engineering talent in Ethiopia could deliver software at the same standard as engineers in Berlin, London, or San Francisco. We took on technically demanding projects for US clients, built our core team of senior engineers, and shipped over fifty products in three years. The bet held.

Phase 2: Product company focus
By 2024 we'd worked with enterprises, agencies, and product companies, and noticed product companies were where our engineering model created the most value. We stopped turning down engagements that didn't fit. That discipline produced the references we now lead with: SaaS platforms, AI products, fintech infrastructure, commerce engineering.

Phase 3: European push
We opened our Warsaw entity, Mereb Technologies Sp. z o.o., to serve European product companies with EU contracts and European business hours. Same Addis Ababa engineering hub, but contracted from inside the EU. We're investing here because the engineering hiring pain in Germany, Poland, and the broader DACH region is acute, and we've built a delivery model that solves it.

Want to talk to a Mereb engineer?
Talk to our teamThree principles that shape everything we do.
We don't have a long values list. We have three operating principles that drive how we hire, who we work with, and what we say no to.
Senior engineers, no exceptions on client work.
Most engineering vendors quote you senior leadership and staff projects with juniors. We don't. The engineers in your standups have at least six years of experience and have shipped products before. If you want junior capacity, that's a different conversation, and probably a different vendor.
Engineers who own the work, not just execute it.
We hire engineers who push back when a spec is wrong, who flag problems early, and who care whether the product is actually good. They become part of your team, not just a delivery resource. This is harder to hire for than raw technical skill, and we spend real time on it.
Engineering relationships, not transactions.
We're built to extend with our clients over years, not to deliver a single project and move on. Our typical engagement starts with a 2-4 engineer team and grows alongside the client's roadmap. We don't optimize for utilization metrics or hourly rate. We optimize for whether the relationship is still creating value at the 18-month mark.
Our values
Precision
We believe in global-grade accuracy in every line of code and every project milestone.
Transparency
Open communication and honest reporting are the foundation of our client partnerships.
Reliability
We are the partner you can count on to deliver high-quality solutions, on time and on budget.
Innovation
We constantly evolve our methodologies and tech stacks to keep our clients ahead of the curve.
Integrity
Ethical business practices and data privacy are non-negotiable standards for our team.
Help product companies ship faster by giving them senior engineering capacity, on terms that work for how they actually operate.
Vision
To be the engineering partner European product companies recommend to other European product companies. The credibility that builds compounds over time, and we're building for the long compound.
The people building Mereb
A founding team that codes, sells, and ships alongside the engineering team. No layer of professional managers. The people running Mereb are the same people who built it.
